Ingredients list

- Egg white – Sesame oil – Soy sauce – Chicken thighs – Chinese five spice – Salt – Black pepper – Cornflour/Cornstarch – Onion – Green pepper – Garlic – Green and red chilli – Spring onions/Scallions

Step 1

Marinate chicken pieces in a mixture of egg white, soy sauce and sesame oil. Mix the five spice, salt and pepper and set aside.

Step 2

Add the cornstarch to a bowl and dredge the chicken pieces 3-4 at a time until generously coated.

Step 3

Fry the dredged chicken pieces for a few minutes on each side until golden then remove from the pan and set aside.

Step 4

Fry the onion, peppers and fresh chilli for 2 minutes then add the garlic and fry for 1 more minute.

Final step

Add the spice mix, cooked chicken and scallions to the pan and mix thoroughly. Serve immediately.
